Overview

Greentopia is an urban innovation project in New York City that addresses food insecurity and mental stress in dense urban environments. By transforming underused rooftops and open spaces into community farming areas, the project creates opportunities for people to grow food, reconnect with nature, and build stronger local communities.

The system combines machine learning, IoT technology, and service design to identify suitable rooftop locations and support users throughout the growing process from planting to harvesting. The final outcome includes a toolkit and a mobile app, helping communities collaboratively manage and sustain urban gardens.
